Job Description

The Phillip Charles Group has been servicing the local metro Detroit area for the past 30 years and has built incredibly strong partnerships with our clients, candidates, and employees. We have worked with our current client for the past 18 years and they are looking for an Operations Agent for a temp to hire opportunity based out of their Belleville/Van Buren location.

8am - 5pm Mon - Fri

$20-25/hr depending on experience

Responsibilities:

• Plans, monitors, and oversees commodity movement to ensure on-time delivery.
• Handles booking, paperwork, and problem-solving.
• Acts as a liaison between carriers, clients, and internal departments.
• Monitors cargo and streamlines routes.
• Upholds safety requirements as a key responsibility.
• Shipment Tracking & Documentation: Keep an eye on freight that is in transit, update tracking systems, and handle documentation (such as manifests and bills of lading).
• Operational Coordination: Schedule collection and delivery times and make freight reservations with carriers.
• Customer service and communication: Serve as the main point of contact for shipping status, proactively addressing delays and resolving inconsistencies.
• Solving problems: Deal with, record, and report any interruptions to operations or damaged products.
• Efficiency Optimization: Increase shipment efficiency to achieve performance metrics and cost-saving objectives.

Qualifications:

Knowledge: A solid grasp of logistics software and transportation protocols.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office, excellent communication, and organizing abilities.

Qualities: Capacity to operate in a fast-paced setting, solve issues under duress, and collaborate with others.

Expertise: Prior expertise in supply chain management, freight forwarding, or logistics is preferred.
