Job Description

Job Summary

The Quality Technician is responsible for organizing, executing, and monitoring quality and food safety activities within the facility. This role supports the development and administration of policies and procedures to ensure that raw materials, packaging, and finished goods meet all specifications and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure facility compliance with regulatory and industry standards (GMP, SQF, sanitation) through ongoing monitoring and reporting.
  • Promote and support plant safety and environmental programs.
  • Maintain quality and food safety manuals.
  • Conduct training sessions for plant personnel.
  • Assist the Quality Manager with system development and internal/external audits.
  • Provide technical support for production processes.
  • Lead investigations of consumer complaints and ensure appropriate corrective actions are taken.
  • Oversee compliance with the HACCP program.
  • Coordinate storage, handling, and rework of held products.
  • Keep Leadership informed of quality assurance and sanitation issues.
  • Provide supervisory support in the absence of the Department Quality Manager.
  • Demonstrate 200% Safety Accountability—ensuring safety for oneself and others.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Science, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge or training in Food Safety, HACCP, and SQF preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and respond with urgency when needed.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly detail-oriented, organized, reliable, and resourceful.
  • Capable of working independently and collaboratively within a team.
