Position Overview:
Mercy, a Catholic, college-preparatory high school dedicated to empowering young women through faith, academic excellence, and leadership, seeks a passionate and collaborative English Teacher . The ideal candidate will inspire a love of reading and writing, foster critical thinking, and support the mission of Catholic education while creating a positive, engaging classroom environment for young women.
Responsibilities:
Teach English courses in literature and composition at the high school level
Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned to curriculum standards
Assess student learning and provide timely feedback
Foster strong reading, writing, speaking, and critical thinking skills
Create a classroom culture that supports the academic and personal growth of young women
Collaborate with colleagues in curriculum development and interdisciplinary learning
Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff
Participate in school activities, meetings, and professional development
Support and uphold the Catholic mission and values of the school
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or related field
Valid state teaching certification (or ability to obtain certification)
Commitment to the mission of Catholic education
Strong classroom management and communication skills
Ability to build positive relationships with students and families
Experience teaching high school English preferred
