Small Business Banker

Location: Columbus, OH (North Side, Dublin, New Albany, Westerville – flexible within market)

Schedule: Monday–Friday, standard banking hours

Compensation:$100K–$110K+ base + commission | OTE ~$130K+

Overview

Our client is seeking a high-performing Small Business Banker to build and grow a book of business from the ground up across the Columbus market.

This is a true greenfield opportunity—there is no existing branch presence today. This individual will operate out of a centralized office (HQ) while establishing market presence, building relationships, and driving new business ahead of future expansion.

The role is highly relationship-driven and growth-focused, with an emphasis on self-sourcing business (60–70%) complemented by internal partnerships and referrals (30–40%).

Clients will typically have up to $12M in annual revenue with lending needs under $1M. This individual will act as a trusted advisor, delivering full-service banking solutions across lending, deposits, and treasury while helping expand the bank’s footprint in a new market.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and grow a new portfolio of small business clients within the Columbus market
• Drive revenue through a mix of self-generated business and internal referrals
• Deliver comprehensive solutions across:
• Business lending
• Deposits & cash management
• Treasury management
• Merchant services
• Business credit cards
• Establish a strong local market presence through networking, COIs, and community involvement
• Partner with internal stakeholders to support long-term market expansion efforts
• Maintain a proactive pipeline through cold outreach, referrals, and events

• Successful build-out of a new client portfolio from scratch
• Strong presence and relationships within the Columbus small business community
• Consistent production and revenue growth
• Ability to operate independently while contributing to broader market expansion

Minimum Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in retail banking, business banking, or small business lending
• Proven ability to self-source business and drive results
• Strong relationship-building and communication skills
• Comfortable working in a goal-driven, client-facing environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior branch leadership or management experience
• Background in mortgage, underwriting, or community banking
• Established network or centers of influence (COIs) within the Columbus market
