A growing construction organization is seeking a Construction Senior Accountant to join a collaborative accounting team supporting active operations. This role is well suited for a hands‑on accounting professional who enjoys ownership, variety, and close partnership with both finance and project leadership.

This position plays a key role in accurate financial reporting, supporting the close process, and overseeing core construction accounting functions such as WIP, job costing, and revenue recognition. The role offers strong visibility across the business and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact.

Responsibilities

• Maintain general ledger activity and support financial statement preparation in accordance with GAAP
• Own key components of the monthly, quarterly, and year‑end close
• Prepare and review journal entries for routine and complex transactions
• Perform bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances
• Ensure balance sheet accuracy through subledger reviews and analysis
• Support construction billing, cost tracking, and revenue recognition
• Prepare and manage WIP schedules, job cost reports, and indirect cost allocations
• Analyze project‑level and company‑wide financial results to identify trends and risks
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, audits, and tax‑related requests
• Serve as an accounting partner to project teams and field personnel
• Contribute to process improvements, internal controls, and ERP/system enhancements
• Support ad‑hoc financial projects as needed

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• 3–6 years of accounting experience, ideally within construction
• Strong understanding of GAAP and construction accounting concepts (WIP, revenue recognition, job costing)
• Experience supporting month‑end close and financial reporting
• Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and lookup functions
• Experience with accounting systems; Acumatica exposure is a plus
• Prior audit and internal controls experience
• Ability to manage priorities independently in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
• High integrity and professionalism
• CPA or CPA‑eligible preferred, not required
