Job Description

The Radiation Therapist is responsible for delivering safe, accurate, and high-quality radiation therapy treatments as prescribed by a Radiation Oncologist. This role supports all aspects of patient care, including simulation, treatment planning, dose verification, and ongoing patient monitoring throughout the course of therapy. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the Radiation Therapist ensures a patient-centered approach while maintaining compliance with professional standards and regulatory requirements.

Radiation Therapist Job Responsibilities:

• Administer prescribed radiation therapy treatments with precision and attention to patient safety
• Perform simulation procedures and assist in acquiring treatment parameters
• Accurately document daily treatments, including dosages, calculations, and patient records
• Monitor patient condition and report any changes or adverse reactions to the care team
• Coordinate and maintain patient treatment schedules for both inpatient and outpatient services
• Collaborate with radiation oncologists, physicists, dosimetrists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals
• Assist physicians and physicists with procedures, equipment documentation, and regulatory compliance
• Ensure proper operation and understanding of radiation therapy equipment and systems
• Maintain strict patient confidentiality and adhere to all organizational policies and standards
• Participate in quality assurance, staff meetings, educational programs, and required training
• Support the training and development of students and new staff
• Contribute to efficient resource utilization and departmental cost control efforts
• Perform additional support or ancillary duties as needed

Radiation Therapist Job Requirements:

• Graduate of an accredited Radiation Therapy program
• Current certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiation Therapy (ARRT-T)
• Active state licensure as a Radiation Therapist (as required by state regulations)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association
• Working knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and radiation therapy techniques
• Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a team-oriented mindset
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment
• Familiarity with radiation oncology systems and software (e.g., EMR, PACS, treatment planning systems)
• Experience with linear accelerators and CT simulation preferred
• Commitment to maintaining safety, precision, and high-quality patient care standards
