Position Overview

A commercial real estate investment firm is seeking a Finance Manager to oversee financial planning, reporting, and analysis for a portfolio of real estate assets. This role supports strategic decision-making by providing insight into property performance, investment opportunities, and financial risks while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency across the portfolio.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in real estate finance, property-level financial reporting, investment modeling, and portfolio analysis, and will work closely with asset management, property management, and leadership teams.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for property portfolios
  • Monitor property performance including NOI, cash flow, and variance analysis against budget and prior periods
  • Develop and maintain portfolio-level financial reporting and performance dashboards
  • Identify financial trends and provide strategic insights to leadership

Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Lead annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes for individual properties and consolidated portfolios
  • Develop financial projections and scenario modeling to support operational and investment decisions
  • Track and analyze budget performance and recommend corrective actions when needed

Real Estate Financial Operations

  • Oversee financial operations for real estate assets including property-level accounting, accounts payable/receivable, and lease administration support
  • Review and analyze rent rolls, lease structures, and tenant recoveries including CAM reconciliations
  • Partner with property management and asset management teams to support operational and capital decisions

Investment & Portfolio Analysis

  • Support acquisition and disposition activities, including financial modeling, underwriting, and due diligence
  • Build and maintain financial models including IRR, NPV, return analysis, and sensitivity scenarios
  • Evaluate potential investments and provide financial insights related to asset performance and portfolio strategy

Capital & Cash Management

  • Track and manage capital expenditures (CapEx) and tenant improvement (TI) budgets
  • Manage cash flow forecasting at both property and portfolio levels
  • Ensure compliance with loan covenants, lender reporting requirements, and financing agreements

Compliance & Reporting

  • Coordinate with auditors, tax advisors, and external partners on financial reporting and compliance matters
  • Assist with investor reporting and preparation of financial packages and performance summaries
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal policies, and regulatory requirements

Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and financial processes across the portfolio
  • Implement systems and reporting improvements that enhance financial visibility and decision-making

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Real Estate, or related field
  • CPA, CFA, or MBA preferred

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in real estate finance, investment analysis, or property accounting
  • Experience supporting commercial real estate portfolios including retail, office, mixed-use, or multifamily assets
  • Strong understanding of financial modeling, underwriting, and portfolio performance analysis

Skills

  • Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills
  • Strong understanding of real estate metrics including NOI, IRR, NPV, and cash flow analysis
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with asset management, property management, and executive leadership
