Job Summary:

The Phlebotomy Technician is responsible for collecting, labeling, processing, and transporting blood and other specimens for laboratory testing. The role supports patient care by ensuring accurate specimen collection while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and customer service in a hospital, commercial lab, or blood bank setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection on patients of all ages.
• Accurately label, process, and prepare specimens for laboratory testing.
• Verify patient identification and ensure compliance with safety and infection control protocols.
• Enter patient and specimen data into laboratory information systems.
• Maintain supply inventory and ensure proper handling and storage of specimens.
• Provide compassionate patient care while ensuring comfort and safety.
• Follow all regulatory, HIPAA, and facility guidelines.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum two (2) years of phlebotomy experience in a hospital, commercial laboratory, or blood bank setting.

Education:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Completion of an accredited Phlebotomy Program.

Certifications & Licensure:

• Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT).
• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
