Air Import Agent – Mainfreight

Key Responsibilities:

  • Shipment Coordination: Manage and oversee all aspects of air import shipments, from initial booking through to final delivery, ensuring that timelines are met and customer expectations are exceeded.
  • Documentation Management: Prepare, review, and process all necessary import documentation, including airway bills, invoices, packing lists, and customs entry filings, ensuring accuracy and compliance with international shipping regulations.
  • Customer Communication: Act as the main point of contact for clients, providing regular updates on shipment status, addressing any concerns, and resolving issues as they arise to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Carrier & Broker Liaison: Work closely with airlines, customs brokers, and other logistics partners to coordinate arrivals, clear shipments efficiently, and ensure cost-effective handling.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay informed about the latest import regulations, customs requirements, and trade compliance standards, ensuring all shipments adhere to CBP and other relevant authority guidelines.
  • Problem Solving: Proactively identify potential issues in the import process and implement solutions to avoid delays or additional costs. This includes managing discrepancies, customs holds, and delivery exceptions.
  • Tracking and Reporting: Monitor the progress of inbound shipments, providing detailed updates to clients and internal stakeholders. Maintain accurate records and generate reports as needed.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in air import operations.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of import documentation, customs clearance procedures, and international trade regulations. Familiarity with industry-specific software and logistics management systems.
  • Skills: Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and work under pressure.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in handling documentation and managing shipment details.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills with the ability to anticipate issues and implement effective solutions.
